Oh no! There goes that cat
He's racing through the house
Stalking, watching carefully
He's hoping for a mouse.

No mouse in sight... do not worry
He's watching now the dog
The dog is stretched out peacefully
Sleeping like a log.

Sneakily he circles now
The dog within his bed
And with a jump he lands upon
The poor dog's sleeping head.

Oh no! There go the two of them
As through the house they chase
Rugs are flying, things go crashing,
As round and round they race.

Then suddenly....it's quiet
And I tip-toe in to see
The two of them are snuggled up
And sleeping peacefully!

What would I do without you,
My precious, furry friend?
Part mischief, but all blessing,
And faithful to the end.

You look at me with eyes of love,
You never hold a grudge,
You think I'm far too wonderful
To criticize or judge.

It seems your greatest joy in life
Is being close to me,
I think God knew how comforting
Your warm soft fur would be.

I know you think You're human,
But I'm glad it isn't true
The world be a nicer place
If folks were more like you.

A few short years is all we have
One day we'll have to part,
But you...my pet will always have
A place within my heart!
