The Rockin' Organ
Down on the corner from my house
Was a tiny wooden church
On Tuesday nights the choir would practice
So on my porch I'd perch.
The organ made such pretty sounds
The choir was in its glory
But then one night the organ rocked,
Now listen to this story!
The organist did not show up
And the choir had all gone home
Except for one... a teenage boy
Who found himself alone.
He eyed the silent organ
And he felt the need to play
As his fingers touched the keyboard
That old organ rocked that day!
Now on the steps a crowd had gathered
With smiles and tapping feet
The preacher came and looked with shock
At the crowd that filled the street.
"Thank you Lord," he shouted out,
Then he began to preach,
So on that day, as the organ rocked
The Bible did he teach.
Now the tiny little wooden church
Has changed some since that day
On Tuesday nights the folks all come
To hear that rockin' organ play.
