The Wedding Of The Trees
The sleeping
barren apple trees
Awoke with bursting blooms
And donned their dainty bridal gowns
Like brides awaiting grooms.
The
willow lent the bridal veil
The maples were no longer bare
The flowering crab in bridesmaid pink
Wore lovely flowers in her hair.
The
dogwood pinned corsages on
And wore her technicolor best
She even wore unopened buds
Like velvet buttons on her chest.
And
then the little cherry tree
No more than two years old
Became the tiny flower girl
In pink and sunshine gold. ~ Adeline
